Bengals: The Uniquely Striking Cats
Bengals are a truly unique breed of cat. Known, first and foremost, for their striking leopard print appearance, it is actually their playful personalities, and affectionate nature that new owners report as their best characteristic. As a Bengal breeder, we are a little biased but we’ve found time and time again that our kittens are great for your mental health, offering companionship and providing amusement unlike any other breed of cat. We cannot recommend them enough as a perfect addition to any household.
The Benefits of Bengal Kittens
One of the biggest benefits of owning a Bengal kitten is, of course, their appearance. The Bengal’s leopard coat patterns are a result of their genetic heritage, which includes the Asian leopard cat, giving them a wild and exotic look that sets them apart from other domestic breeds. It is very rare to have visitors to our house that don’t comment on our cats’ appearance. This makes them a real conversation starter. Of course it helps that Bengals are generally not shy cats and will not usually hide from visitors, making their presence known instantly to anyone new to the house!
Playful and Interactive Companions
In addition to their good looks, Bengal kittens are also known for their playful and affectionate personalities. They are highly intelligent and curious, which makes them great companions. We describe them as almost more like dogs than cats as they will often perform tricks, retrieve balls and are generally more interactive than ordinary domestic cats. They love to play and interact with their human family and will often follow their owners around the house. One of the ways that they display this intelligence is that they are known to be very vocal. This provides no end of entertainment for their owners and makes them really interactive.
High Energy and Stimulation
It is well documented that Bengals are a high-energy breed so be prepared to provide them with plenty of exercise and stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. This can include playtime, interactive toys, and even agility training. Their activity level is contributed, in part, by their intelligence – so think stimulation!
Bengal kittens are also known for having a lower allergen level compared to other cats, which may be beneficial for people with cat allergies. They have a thick ‘pelt’ which is attributed as having fewer allergen-producing proteins than other breeds, which can make them a better choice for people with allergies. We do always recommend to people, however, that if they are buying a Bengal on this basis, they should visit and cuddle a Bengal first as with any allergy, personal responses can differ!
Bengals – The Perfect Companions
So, in summary, Bengal kittens make great pets for families and individuals who are looking for an eye-catching, unique and affectionate companion. They are beautiful, intelligent, and playful animals that will bring joy and companionship to your life in bucket-loads. We highly recommend!
